Ghost Hunters - Spirit Boy

The TAPS team heads to the Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI. Apparently this is a hot spot for school field trips and our TAPS leaders Jason & Grant had gone there when they were but wee lads in school. Now they are back for a different kind of field trip. Slater Mill was built in 1793 and was the first successful water driven mill. The mill employed children to work on the machines because they were small enough to crawl in to make repairs. Because of this practice, children were injured and killed. Some of the reports here include machines operating on their own, feelings of being watched, full body apparitions and assorted sounds.
J & G have the best experience of the night. They start out in the water wheel room where they debunk the water wheel operating on it's own by seeing that when the river level rises, it comes into a door which is supposed to keep the water out but instead diverts the water into the wheel causing it to turn. They decide to do EVP work and use the K2 meter. They actually start a conversation with a spirit. By asking yes & no questions (and getting the spirit to light up the K2 meter) they find out they are speaking with a 9 year old boy who works in the mill and lives nearby. The temperature drops 8 degrees while they are talking to the boy.
J & G then go into another part of the mill only to discover the boy has followed them. Jason asks if he is lonely and gets a yes reply so Jason invites him to come home with him to his 5 kids. Jason then says he better text the wife to expect a guest.
After discussing whether or not Tango is growing a goatee, Steve and Tango get to work analyzing the tapes. They find audio of the boy shouting hello in response to Grant asking him to yell really loud. They also hear him saying his name as Edward or Edgar. That was a pretty good show and we find out later that Jason is not experiencing any difference at home after inviting Edward/Edgar home. Then again, he has 5 kids, who could tell?
The next stop is the Pettibone Tavern in Simsbury, CT. Built in 1780 there are reports of full body apparitions and a legend that a woman named Abigail was beheaded by her husband after he caught her cheating on him. Let that be a lesson ladies, don't get caught!
J & G go into the ladies room, the scene of the supposed beheading and don't experience anything except a toilet looking like it has wings.
Kris & Tango, also coming up empty, get bored and decide to check out an old phone booth and get stuck inside.
After doing some research, it was found that no one had been murdered in the house and that no one named Abigail had ever lived there. It seems the tavern may have been looking for some publicity. Double D

Project Runway-Grad models

Well, imagine my surprise when last night's episode, I see Suede amongst the designers. I'm like huh? According to my last post on Project Runway, which I have committed to memory, I had him aufted by the lady Heidi. So what happened? Am I exhibiting the signs of early dementia? Heaven forbid! Did I mistake's Blayne's horrible leather bounded, muslin wrapped, blue red post mortem outfit as Suede's? Donna thinks not. Did I enter some kind of twilight zone time warp? Nope not that exciting. Just plain and simple, I was falling asleep. Yes, three seconds here, five minutes there and before you know it, I have written down in my groggy handwriting what I thought was a continual stream of consciousness was in fact only the remnants of the inside of my eye lids. Here I am frantically searching the web to see who was eliminated last week, yep, Blayne! Somehow I really knew that, because in my unconscious state, I had the thought that the pairing with Stella was the kiss of death for Blayne. Somehow filtering through my sleep induce stupor I heard the words of Michael Kors saying that Suede was not that important to be talking about himself in third person and it was there that I promptly nodded off. Sorry folks!
Well, back on track and needless to say, I am not happy that Kenley is still ever present. It seems with every week, her ego gets more and more inflated. This week Tim is like, we have special guests this week. Out walks an assortment of women (to be polite) or as Leanne said, I hope we don't have to make old lady dresses. Actually no, it's outfits for their newly graduated daughters. I guess the producers really wanted your average garden variety mother daughter team. Not a beauty among them. I cracked up when Jerrell said he was wondering who was going to get the head of lettuce, in other words the mother from H--- and that was Leanne's as her mother made all sorts of complaints at the dress Leanne made. What's special about this dress, blah, blah, blah...Mostly I thought every single outfit was horrible. Obviously they can't design something for the average woman. Weren't they supposed to make them over and take them from plain Jane to super sophicate? I didn't see one make over that made me go wow. Kenley managed to turn her bleach banged daughter into a mini-me replica of Kenley. I hated that outfit, yet week after week, the judges are loving her creations, which inflates that head of hers. Korto outfit would have been better if it were longer, since the young lady had the legs of a football player, well she did! And Leanne had to make another bed jacket to go over her dress, which the judges said the dress looked better without the jacket..hint, hint!
But it was Joe with his safe over done creation of a business suit gone wrong that the judges hated and was aufed and much to my irritation, Kenley laughing like one of the mean girls at the judges scathing comments to Joe. Now was that nice? Kenley, once cool and offbeat needs to be taken down. Will someone stuff that feather barrette down her throat! Oh, snaps to Jerrell for making the only outfit that looked wearable and winning a spot in Elle mag. Hey what was that on his head, a dead crow?-Single D

Winner of Big Brother-Season 10

No surprises here, the winner and all time ultimate player in Big Brother history, Dan, school teacher and prime mover in the house. A landslide vote could not deny his superior game playing as each of the evicted houseguest concurred. Great game playing Dan! I loved it when Brian and Steven called out Michelle, Jerry and Ollie's emotional personal outburst against Dan and Keesha. Keesha stilled looked pissed when the Q & A was going on, but I think the bandaid of $25,000 as America's favorite houseguest will ease the pain.
Good season even with the boring moments.-Single D

Gone Country-Season 2-Outsiders Inn-and My Redneck Wedding

I guess Gone Country was hoping it could repeat last season's successful and semi amusing premise of turning someone with little or no talent into a country star. JR is still trying to get the contestants into the true meaning of country, by having them sing in a pen (prison), smashing cars and chasing after greased pigs, which by the way Jermaine Jackson refuses to do. He doesn't do pork, touch pork or eat pork. And I think he doesn't like to get down and dirty either. But one thing Jermaine does, is see dead people and is afraid of the dark. Yep, ya heard me, dead people from the 1800's. Weird. And they called Michael Jackson weird! The rest of the cast is pretty much a yawner. We all know Sean Young can't remember lyrics or sing a lick, but she sure can smash up stock cars, go Sean! Mikahla looks like she should be on the cover of Playboy, how did she go from sweet (American Idol) to looking like an experienced bunny? And for the rest, with the exception of Sebastian sound like muzak in an elevator. Now I must say a few words for the lamest show on CMT, Outsiders Inn, based on the trio from the previous season of Gone Country, your friends and mine, Maureen McCormick, Carney Wilson and that lovable drunk, Bobby Brown. The premise, Maureen decides to run a hillbilly Bed and Breakfast Inn called, Pigeon Manor and decides to calls her two BFF's Carney Wilson and Bobby Brown. Carney will cook (she cooks?) and Bobby, what shall he do? Oh yeah, he'll be the Entertainment Director, what is this Love Boat? Ok, I'll bite, sounds like it could be fun. Wrong! Come on, it could have been funny if it was not some over done, over wrought road kill. Do we need stuff like, the trio guest judging a local talent show, but the entire time Carney is lifting her ass because she has a bad case of hemmoroids which gets worst as her temper gets meaner and then she tells one contestant to keep his day job, only to find out the next day when visiting the doc for some hemmoroid remedy that the doctor is the dejected would be singer from the night before? Planned, fake and staged. Not funny. Or the one where they book an animal convention, where a man brings his goat with him for a little one on one time in the honeymoon suite. Or the redneck honeymooners wanting green jello in their bath tub, but Carney and Maureen end up in it, with Carney farting of course! It could be funny but the whole thing speaks of the contrived and staged like a really bad sitcom. The whole idea is a mess of goats, free loading hillbillies, Carney baking apple pies, Bobby sweating while hunting bears and Maureen riding on a tractor in a cut too low, red Scarlett O'Hara dress. Sorry, I pass. Ya, Ya, so I did watch more than one episode! The one thing that did astonish and amazed me was the one episode of My Redneck Wedding I did watched. Are there really people like that? The bride, an ample swell of a girl, marrying Billy Bob, a skinny toothless wonder. Why is it that the bride is always fat and the groom is always skinny? The bride gets ready, she does her hair, but wears not a lick of make-up and boy she needs it. When she's all gussied up, she hops on the wagon that is being pulled by the tractor lawn mower that takes her to the local community center to get herself hitched. After the ceremony, it's all outside for a monster truck rally in the mud with the newly hitched bride and groom gettin all down and dirty. Hee Haw!-Single D

Big Brother-Final Two

First off, let me say, doesn't Jerry have anything else to wear beside that red sleeveless shirt? No one wants to see Old McDonald bare his arms, ei, ei, o. I just didn't understand the Renegade reasoning to have Memphis go on the block when I thought they should have put up Keesha and Jerry together. Now everything rests on Memphis to win the POV. If it involves brains, Jerry might have a good chance of winning, he's shown alot of smarts in this game. Dan gets a helicopter ride to the secluded beach where he meets up with Michelle. He tries to sweet talk her into winning her vote, in which this segment should have been called how to influence people and win votes (thanks, Double D). Dan was really working it and I'm not quite sure Michelle will give in, she's one tough cookie. The stair way to Veto game was a Q & A, which always gives the game a level playing field, but thankfully, Memphis wins the POV. At the end of the game Keesha lets out a nervous laugh. Of course Memphis takes himself off and the only replacement is Keesha. Keesha then gets really nervous because when she goes into the HOH room, she gets the bad vibe that they will be voting her out. When she confronts them, they slyly look away because they can't lie to her face. If I were Keesha, I would have thrown myself on their mercy and tell them that if they kept me for one more week, I will let them win and then they can vote me out the following week and then played like crazy to win the HOH. In the end, no matter how much wrath she spewed, Keesha was voted out by Memphis, Dan whispers in her ear that he took Michelle to the beach so she could tell the rest of the house. I'm wondering if Memphis knows how hard Dan is playing the game? I guess Dan and Memphis has a grand plan and things are falling in place for them. The three part HOH begins with a bumpy airplane ride and of course we know whose falling off first, Jerry. He goes down like a pile of leaves. It was the plan for Memphis to take a fall so Dan could win round one, but instead he holds on for several more minutes which looked like Dan might fall off. From the beginning, it looked like Dan was struggling, I guess he doesn't have good balance. Memphis takes the fall, and goes on to round two. I thought round two was funny with the punching of house guest cutouts. I thought Jerry would have done alot better, but the time of 8 minutes to 51 minutes was a big difference and Memphis wins round two. In a head to head, Dan and Memphis go up for the final 7 question, Q & A. I placed my bets on Dan, since he's pretty smart, and of course he wins the final HOH and Jerry is given his walking papers. To my amazement, Dan managed to be loyal to Memphis all the way through. Now it remains to be seen if the jury sees him as the ultimate player-Single D

Greatest American Dog and All the Dogs I've Loved Before

Congratulations to Travis and his boxer dog, Presley, crowned and given the golden bone title of the Greatest American Dog, with second runner up, Laurie and her cute underdog white maltese, Andrew.
As we came to the finale of the Greatest American Dog, I stopped to think about all the dogs I have owned and loved. My fellow loving, loyal companions of my past, two which rest in cedar boxes on my library shelf.
My only dog of my childhood was a beagle that we got when I was eleven and lived in Hawaii . Only a few memories linger from "Susie", like the one of the day I was taking her for a walk on the base, (we lived on Barber's Point Navy Base, Oahu), when Susie took the biggest snake of a poop in someone's calla lilies. I remember standing there frozen in sheer terror at the size and it's slithery ability of it snaking down the leaf to the stalk while the homeowner yelled at me from his front porch for me to clean it up! Of the time that Susie had gotten bitten from a centipede in the backyard and almost died and had for the rest of her days eat this horrible smelling dog food that my mother would extract from the can in a solid lump and cut it up into small bite size pieces. And of the day Susie died, my mother standing in the doorway in her blue nightgown and hair net, crying hopelessly. I had never seen her cry before.
The first dog of my young adulthood was Charlie, a mutt that someone was giving away in front of a mall in San Diego while I was attending college. She was smarter than most humans and could jump from a sitting position into your arms. She traveled with us from our house in San Diego to San Francisco, feeling at home anywhere she could sleep between us, head on the pillow, snoring. She would sit across the room by the fireplace staring at my dish because that was how she begged for treats, until one day she no longer did that and chose just to sit next to me barely breathing. When we took her to the vet, they told us she had lung cancer, to which I told the vet that I didn't know she smoked. The last day I brought her to the vet, she knew it was going to be our last day together and as I hugged her while the vet gave her the shot, I could feel her cold nose press against my cheek, her tongue lick my tears, and feel her swallow her last breath. Now I know how my mother felt that day in her blue nightgown and hair net, crying, hopelessly.
There after it was a series of dogs, mostly big goofy labs. A black one named Peppercorn, who insisted on digging up my roses in the back yard, until one day she made a hole so big it was almost in the neighbor's yard, that I put her in the hole and hosed her down with water until she was a muddy mess. She never dug again. A yellow lab named Fanny, hopelessly sweet and kind hearted, who had a benign fatty tumor on her stomach the size of a small football. A purebred Sheltie named Dottie. The day we went to pick her up at the breeder's farm in Livermore, she came out of the barn with her tiny tips of her ears taped down. She was stubborn and refused to be house broken, until into the 8th month, out of frustration, I held her over the balcony of my three story house and told her if she didn't learn to be potty trained she would end up in the garden. She never made a mess after that and her ears never did stay down. The past has been filled with lovable big dogs, sloppy in their affections. It hasn't been until now that we decided on trying out the likes of smaller dogs, which we are finding small in size but big in personalities. Two small dogs, chihuahuas, name Henry and Hazel, but that's another story.-Single D

Project Runway-What's Your Zodiac Sign?

This week's special guests are the rejected designers from this season, much to the sour grapes looks of the remaining designers. The challenge is to create an avant gard look from the the zodiac sign of one of the designers. Mostly it's Libra or Aquarius. No one chooses Cancer, hey, I really wanted to see a crabby patty design. For this post, I am only going to rant about the two most auful designs ever and that would be Blayne's and Kenley's. Blayne and Stella get paired up and both choose to do Libra as their sign. The sign should have been not to pair those two odd balls together. When Blayne tries to explain his design to Tim it sounded like he was talking in a foreign language, but somewhere in there the word leathea was uttered so we knew Stella was planting ideas. Kenley and Wesley are paired together and they choose to do Aquarius as their Zodiac sign. Did Wesley utter a single word during this episode? Once again another designer is so in love with their own creation. Kenley's is enamoured of her design thinking it so avant gard, when it is more like a costume for the the Princess of lollipop land, fly away with me Peter Pan! That outfit literally looked like it could take off or were those egg pods on the shoulders housing some grotesque creature? I'm wondering how that hideous designed translated into Aquarius? Where was the illusion of water? This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.... Poor Tim said it was looking very Glenda the Good Witch.
The designer's models will be wearing their outfits at a party hosted at the Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History where the past designers will pick the winning outfit. I'm wondering how they could even see the outfits in that ambient light? So fierce Christian was there, he makes me laugh just looking at him, such an elf! Back at the studio the designers get to finish their outfits with Stella still carrying on with her hammer.
At the runway show, Blayne's model just looked horrible in that outfit and as Michael Kors said, she's pooping fabric. It looked like a birthday party gone wrong. Little manic children ripped at that dress in protest! The judges were not too kind to Kenley much to her irritation. She so had that look of what are they talking about? My design is amazing! Yeah maybe in some Tim Burton scary Over the Rainbow movie. My favorite outfit was Joe's with his fiery Aries, but the winner was Jerrell with his interpretation of Sagittarius. Huh? I just didn't get it. This time, it will be two designers that get aufed and it's Terri, who has terrible anger issues and can't get along with anyone and Blayne, because one can only poop so much fabric. And oh by the way, snaps for Heidi getting an Emmy nod for hosting a reality show, but how hard can it be? Look pretty and say auf wiedershen?-Single D

Big Brother-Luxury Competition

The Sumo wrestler was still sitting on the clue and the house guest haven't a clue what to do. Keesha's terrified and Memphis just doesn't want anything to do with him. Finally Dan spies something underneath the Sumo's bum so he sits near the Sumo on the couch waiting for his chance to pounce. He eyes the Sumo, he eyes his bum, yeah but do we really want to touch whatever is under his bum? As the Sumo stands up, Dan quickly reaches for the clue, yes! Touchdown! We really didn't want Dan's hand to become sushi. The clue was to the luxury competition, which won't be revealed until later. Were those Renny's reading glasses that Keesha was wearing? Jerry is still up to his old tricks by trying to stir up the pot. You gotta give the old guy credit, who knew he would have lasted this long. If he wins, it will be the greatest upset of all. The luxury challenge involved bringing Jesse back in a gorilla suit. I'm thinking why? Jesse wakes up the house guest from their slumber, did they even brush their teeth?yuck! This competition involved figuring out the phrase from the clues in the backyard. They had three hours to figure it out. Three hours? It was like three hours of complete boredom. Jerry is quick to make his three guesses, all wrong. Dan is turning out to be the smart one and waited until all the unnecessary clues were eliminated. His guess, bury the hatchet, which made no sense to me at all, was the winning phrase. I thought it would be a typical BB phrase, you know, power of veto, head of household etc, but this one was in left field. I bet some of the house guest would like to bury the hatchet in someone's head! Dan won the challenge and was notified that it was a trip to a remote beach and that he could bring one buddy either from the BB house or the jury house. After much contemplating which looked agonizing, he chooses Michelle, because she got a trip stolen and he might win points with her. Dan decides to hide it from the rest of the people in the house. I'm like why? Eventually they are going to find out and then what? He's going to need a guardian angel bad! At this point does anyone care? He should have taken Memphis as a reward for keeping his end of the bargain when he took him off the block.
For the nomination, I guess Memphis and Dan come to the conclusion that in order to throw the heat off their pact, Memphis will go up on the block, so that Keesha and Jerry won't think they are in cahoots. Again why? And again, at this point, who cares if they know they have a pact? It's four players, why not come clean? If Memphis or Dan don't win the POV, then the power is all in Keesha's hand and she might end up eliminating Memphis if Jerry gets his way. -Single D

The Apprentice UK - On the cheap

After only two weeks, Sir Alan mixes up the teams and he picks the project managers for each team. He picks Matthew for Impact and you would have thought Sir Alan had just told him that his mother died. Matthew had that deer in the headlights look, even by his own admission, he has been trying to hide and stay below the radar. Ha, not this time bucko! Sir Alan also picks Adele, who came very close to being fired last week, for First Forte. The challenge is to buy items for the lowest price. Each team is given 1000 pounds (I wish my keyboard had that symbol) and a list. The items include a diamond (clarity and grade listed), a bottle of champagne (vintage and brand listed), a mattress, a dental checkup, a bowler hat (don't ask me), a Freeview (I think that may be like a Tivo) and some jellied eels, those British like to eat strange things. All that and be back at the boardroom by 5:30pm. Adele starts out by assigning everyone titles and tasks. She assigns Miranda the job of Professional Assistant and tells her she is to take notes and do whatever Adele tells her. Adele also says that if they should lose, Miranda will be coming into the boardroom. No pressure there. Ben & Tim go off to buy the diamond and come out smelling like a rose when they got a 200 pound diamond for 130 pounds. Meanwhile, Adele is busy reminding Sebastian that she didn't give him permission to go running ahead of her and to stay with her. Heel boy, heel! Matthew's team fares much better even without benefit of a leader. I really didn't see him do much of anything. Good thing for him he has a great team. Saira gets the mattress for 20 pounds less than the asking price and she didn't even have to drop the f bomb. Her and Raj talk a shop keeper into giving them the Freeview and Paul gets the money exchange for 9 pounds less than the going rate. I'm telling you, Paul could sell you your own car! Adele is still bickering with Miranda, telling her that she is not taking good notes. Hey, the girl found jellied eels on special, give her a break! Matthew's Impact team wins the challenge by 100 pounds even without the bowler hat. Their reward is dinner with Sir Alan at his favorite Italian restaurant. The episode didn't show any of the dinner, it must have been boring. The boardroom was anything but boring. These girls must have taken lessons from Omarosa because the fir was flying, not so politely this time. Everyone blamed Adele for the loss and Adele blamed Miranda for everything. Poor Ben gets pulled into the boardroom with Adele and Miranda and he wisely keeps his mouth shut letting the girls go at it. Even Sir Alan said they sounded like two old washer women. Miranda can't keep her mouth shut and keeps interrupting Adele and Adele can't stop talking. Sir Alan decides to give Adele another chance and Miranda gets the dreaded "you're fired". Double D

Ghost Hunters - Iron Island Museum

The TAPS team is back and they are off to Buffalo, NY and the Iron Island Museum. The museum started life as a church then became a funeral parlor before becoming a museum. When the curators where cleaning out the basement, they found about 40 urns of ashes that were never claimed while the building was a funeral parlor. Reports include feelings of being followed, locked doors which open on their own and full body apparitions.
Kris & Kris experience the front door unlocking itself and opening right after seeing a figure by the door.
Jason & Grant (J&G), in the old viewing room, start to question a spirit boy named Jimmy. They have a K2 meter set up and ask Jimmy if he would light up the lights and they light up like a Christmas tree. Just to make sure it's not coincidence, they continue to ask questions and get lights with every question. Grant finally has to ask Jimmy to stop lighting the lights. Come on, the kid just wants to play!
J&G decide to go to the attic after hearing footsteps coming from there. The opening is tiny so Grant goes as far as he can into the attic and sees that there really isn't a floor, only rafters. He sees something block the window and it starts coming at him. Jason decides he has to see this for himself so goes into the attic opening and also sees a figure walk by the window. They send Tango into the attic either because he is the smallest or most gullible. Tango starts doing EVP work and doesn't get any response so he asks Jason's permission to curse at the spirits. Jason grants permission and Tango goes off on a tangent calling the spirits all kinds of names that can't be repeated here. It was hysterical! He finally his tirade by telling the spirit he's glad he's dead.
During the review, the team gets a lot of EVPs from the attic. One voice was a man asking "what do you want?" just before Grant sees a figure coming toward him. Another EVP is when Tango was provoking the spirits in the attic. As clear as day you can hear a voice say "leave me alone". I'm telling you I had goosebumps from head to toe when I heard that one! Even Tango was creeped out.
J&G tell the museum manager not to worry that the place is haunted because it appears that the spirits are used to them being there and won't cause any problems. Double D

The Apprentice UK - Candidates in Toyland

Apparently last week the girls used all the hot water and breakfast food in the house leaving the guys starving and taking cold showers. This time when the phone rings, the guys are ready. They get the instructions to be ready to leave at 7:15am sharp. The guys let the girls sleep in so they can get the showers and breakfast. They were nice enough to wake them up with 20 minutes to go. They meet Sir Alan in a luxury car showroom. Let's see, cars on Project Runway, cars on Apprentice, I'm detecting a trend here. The assignment this week is to design a toy for children. Lindsay is the project manager for the girls and is already braced for conflict. Isn't that setting yourself up for disaster? Raj is PM for the guys and they decide right away to design something for boys. They come up with the idea to update a trading card game by making it electronic. Raj tries to encourage participation to get a name for their game but Matthew is too busy reading Sir Alan's book and says he will go along with whatever the group decides. Raj takes him aside to tell him that he is not contributing to the assignment. Why is that being chewed out sounds so much better with a British accent? Lindsay presents her idea for flashcards with symbols on them that she calls "Secret Signals". Girls are to make up a code for the symbols and flash those instead of talking. Little girls not talk? Lindsay says this is supposed to be pretend texting. How is this even remotely like texting? I think Lindsay missed out on something in her childhood and wants to relive it now. The other girls are just staring, slack-jawed at Lindsay, cue the crickets. They also had an idea of a construction type toy using electricity. Fortunately they see the flaw in that plan and came up with battling robots. Both teams go to a focus group to pitch their ideas. The girls robot idea is a big hit with the kids but Lindsay still wants to produce her cards. She calls for a vote and her team all say they want the robots. Lindsay then says she wants to meet with the kids again. They get two groups of kids, one group is split between the cards and robots while the other group wants the robots. So with three votes, mostly for the robots, Lindsay calls for yet another vote saying the other votes were split (what kind of math was she using?). Even though the last vote came out overwhelmingly for the robots, Lindsay decides they will produce both toys and she eventually didn't listen to her team and went with the cards. You knew she would. The guys are in love with their game, Switch Base. I still didn't see exactly how it worked but they seemed to like it! They present their design to the toy manufacturer and it looked like a hit, even the manufacturer was asking questions and offering suggestions. The girls presentation went over like a lead balloon even the manufacturer was yawning. The guys win again and get to go to a county home for some skeet shooting. They all could shoot pretty good which makes me wonder if all Britons are born with this talent. Sir Alan is disappointed in the girls again. In the boardroom, most of the girls are being polite but they still name Lindsay as the reason for the failure. Lindsay brings back Adele for not participating in the presentation and Miriam for I don't know what since she seemed to be Lindsay's biggest supporter. Adele's reason for not doing the presentation was that she was so against the flashcards and that Lindsay would not listen to her team or the focus groups. Well, you can imagine how Sir Alan felt about Adele not participating, he also was confused as to why Lindsay brought Miriam back. Lindsay stammers her way through the boardroom and can't come up with a good reason why she shouldn't be fired. Sir Alan lets Adele know that she is not entirely safe and fires Lindsay. Double D

Project Runway-Diane Von Furstenberg-Need I Say More?

Again I miss the first fifteen minutes of this episode, I really need to brush my teeth earlier! I came into the episode where Stella is saying that can she make something Diane would like? Now's the time to do something pretty Stella, not during the car challenge! When she said Diane, I knew it was Von Furstenberg, who else? Everyone was saying something about a Shanghai to Berlin story which to me sounded like a sound bite from some Indy movie or like some catalog description out of that Peterman catalog, you know the one where there is great intrigue surrounding a trench coat, which always made me want to buy it. Joe is inspired by Shanghai and is doing something of a Shanghai top with an open back. I was wondering why just a top, couldn't he done a full on Mandarin dress like that? Korto is loving her yellow fabric peeking through her dress which Tim says, it looks like bra straps. Me, I'm loving the yellow to with that striped material which screams Von Furstenberg! Meanwhile, Stella gets the story wrong and ends up in a wrong country, probably a country where they all wear leather. The winner of this challenge will get to sell their design to American Express cardholders online under the Diane label. This perplexes me, why only American Express? Doesn't sound like a wide audience. Kenley is so excited, like I've only sold to Walmart and Kmart, duh. And what was Kenley wearing during the runway show, purple ostrich shoulder pads?
Joe was so loving his outfit, if he could have kiss his ass he would have. I guess love is blind, because that outfit was auful! Blayne did knickers again and identifies with Diane, she's into tanning too! The judges hated Stella's Dracula Cape and Michael Kors said her crotch on the pants looked like there was something missing. Hey Michael, it's a girl for heaven's sake!
I just didn't get Suede's Berlin inspired outfit. What was Berlin about it, the vest made of tweed? Isn't that more British? Michael Kors said it looked like the model got dressed in the dark-ouch! Leanne wins this challenge with her midnight blue evening dress and that I stole my grammie bed jacket. I'm wondering how many orders she'll get for that? Poor Stella was aufed by the judges because she really can't do pretty. Best left designing rocker outfits and biker chics. -Single D
When the designers are told they will be designing for a fashion icon Blayne hopefully asks Mary Kate Olsen (?!) I think the tanning booth has fried a few too many of his brain cells. No Blayne, it's Diane Von Furstenberg and we're going to Shanghai! I was starting to wonder if Kenley was ever going to stop crying. Apparently Ms. VF is her idol and she couldn't believe she was going to meet her let alone design for the woman. Then they are told they get to chose their fabrics from Diane's own fabric room and that started Kenley bawling all over again. Get a grip girl!
I'm having terrible writer's block this week so I'll suffice by saying Joe's outfit was God awful, Stella tried but apparently didn't get the whole Shanghai thing. My fave was Kenley's dress and I really think she would have won if she had paired it with a jacket. I wasn't digging Blayne's knickers or Jarell's whatever you want to call it. I really liked LeAnn's dress but not the jacket. That said, Stella gets auf'ed and congrats go to LeAnn! Hopefully I'll find my muse, or at least an idol, and be better next week! Double D

Big Brother-POV and Eviction of Renny

I had to crack up when Jerry fell in the pool trying to read the sky writing. Oophs there's a pool there Jerry! That's probably the only time he went swimming! At least he didn't break a hip or something and we never did find out what it was that sky writing was about.
I'm thinking Memphis is getting cocky by playing all sides. He has a pact with Jerry, a pact with Dan the original Renegades, and a pact with Keesha. Dan says that if he uses the POV on him, he should show a signal like throwing out a bandanna or something. What are ya in a gang? Can Memphis be trusted? The POV was the morphing competition where they blend the faces of two house guest together. I always love this challenge, it's funny to see what kind of babies the house guest would make. Renny thought her baby picture was the cutest, her morphed with Jesse. She must have spent five minutes just gazing at her lovely countenance, but she had the hardest time recognizing Jerry-hey who else has a bald head in the house? The ugliest babies by far were Keesha and Steven, as well as Memphis and Libra. Memphis has the fastest time and wins the POV and keeps his word to Dan and takes him off the block. Poor Renny has to go up in his stead. We all know the outcome to this so the next episode they could have fast forward to Renny's eviction, no surprises there. Jerry in his own sly way is trying to stir up the pot in the house by saying that Memphis has a pact with everyone, which is true. Poor Jerry, he's never going to find a true partner to take him to the end. How he's gotten this far is beyond me.
It was a sweet moment when Keesha and Renny were having their last meal together and had a mother-daughter bonding moment. Doesn't Renny look like she always completely drunk on every episode? Entering the Big Brother house must be like going into rehab. This episode there was a lot of laying on the beds. Did ya notice Memphis was still wearing his mic in bed? What a good little house guest!
Big Brother gives us a peek in the Big Brother jury house, not much happening there.
April still hates Keesha
April gets teary eyed seeing Ollie suffer on the swing vine
April still loves Ollie
April says yes to being Ollie's girl-say it with me, awww
Michelle still hates Dan
Renny's exit was gracious as a grand southern dame can be. Was she ever in that Ya Ya Sisterhood movie? -Single D

Blogging Bourdain-Marathon Labor Day

I decided to cook a turkey on Labor Day, which my daughter quizzically says, it isn't Thanksgiving. I promptly tell her that turkey can be eaten any day, any month and any time one needs lots of leftovers for the week. This being only the second week of school and the lunch lines being extremely long for the hot lunch, my daughter is forced to bring her lunch or not eat. So turkey sandwiches sounded good and easy for her lunches, hence roasting a turkey on Labor Day. Therefore, a marathon of No Reservations were in order, since there wasn't much of anything. It was either that or the MDA telethon. How long can one watch people answer phones and an amature talent lineup?
Anthony Bourdain starts out on a road trip where the criteria for a road trip is lots of eating, drinking and of course puking, I would think that's his criteria for traveling abroad. He makes a stop at the Salton Sea where he recites an interesting history, of forgone popularity and of abandonment, of too much salt and lots of dead fish, of government purchase with no government benefits. It is here he makes a lunch stop at the community of Bombay Beach, currently home to 270 residents or in this case die hards living on the edge of the salty sea. He enters probably the only eating establishment where he orders the patty melt which he says he's never had one. Never had a patty melt? Pigeon necks yes, patty melts no. Do these people in there even know who he is? I think not, when one of them says can you eat and drink on the job? To which Anthony Bourdain says that's what I do. Well heck, where do I sign up? Next it's on to some redneck outpost. It is here that I am furiously surfing since this stretch of the road trip is a napper. Here they stop somewhere to eat a 72 oz steak, the sounds of Deliverance banjos in the background and somewhere there's a redneck wedding going on.
Next it's on to Cartagena, romanticized in the "Romancing the Stone", eating ceviche and strolling through the local market for a lunch at Cecilia's. Cecilia herself is cooking seafood rice in black kettles on an open flame which looked absolutely delicious, where Anthony Bourdain and his guide, Jorge are lunching on endangered turtle stew. Poor turtles, what did they ever do to you? Slow cooked and perfect. Next a precariously rough boat ride from Columbia's shore to an island time forgot, for some freshly caught lobsters for lunch. I imagine if you have steady sea legs one might be able to enjoy the fresh catch, me, I'd be seasick for 3 days. Anthony Bourdain ask a local if he prefers to live on the island or live there as he points out to Colombia with it's skyscrapers and big city life. The guy says he rather live there on the island. Who wouldn't? No jobs, no responsibilities, just dive for your supper.
Next it's on to San Antonia for the deep fried lower intestines of the pig, could that be pig rectum? I'm not too hot on that even if it's deep fried, but the cornmeal cake with fresca cheese and sweetened condense milk looked awesome, although as a child, I remember I threw up on sweetened condense milk. I ate so much poor man's pudding I puked. Poor man's pudding recipe to follow. The next day Anthony Bourdain ate a breakfast of rice and beans and fried eggs and fried plantains which made my mouth water with hunger. It is those moments I live for, because, Columbia for all it's fighting back against the drug cartels makes my bucket list as one of the last places on earth I plan to visit. -Single D
Poor Man's pudding-one can of sweetened condensed milk. Put can unopened in a sauce pan, add water and boil for 40 to 50 minutes. Let cool, open can and eat.

Big Brother-OMG! Jerry Wins HOH

After the hasty departure of Michelle and Ollie, poor Jerry is a man without an island. He's telling his fellow house guest talk to me which Renny promptly ignores. She claims she has nothing to say to him because in the world according to Renny, it doesn't involve in the insane, the absurd or the kooky. She can't even make superficial chit chat, but she does go round and round with Dan about how it's two hours behind California time. What planet is she from? Oh yeah, planet Renny.
I knew things would be going too smooth if one of the four would win HOH and of course, Murphy's law prevailed or in this case Jerry's law. We all knew Renny's answers would be in left field, but come on Memphis, he can't remember dates or aim straight! If Keesha would have played I'm thinking she would have won. Dan tried his hardest to make the correct slot but he over shot one answer which to his detriment ended up making him lose to Jerry. This game was right up Jerry's alley, I guess all that shuffleboard practice came in handy! I hate to admit it because our side lost, but it was a good game. Up in his HOH room, his fellow house guest has to listen to the story of Hissy the toy snake, which of course seemed to go on and on and on, thank God for fast forward. Funny how once Jerry won HOH, Renny is all smiles up in his HOH room. Renny why don't you tie that feather boa a little tighter? After Memphis seals his deal with Jerry not to go on the block, the question would be who would sit next to my bofriend Dan. This episode was boring in that there was little drama, now that all the drama queens have left the building. His choice for nomination, Dan and Keesha which proved good strategy on Jerry's part, dividing the house votes and since he wants my bofriend gone, he would cast the deciding vote if tied. Poor Dan, now I have to hope that Dan will win the POV and Jerry to replace it with Renny. Question is will Dan win and will Jerry do that?-Single D
